Title: Who Put the Crack in American Pipe Dreams?

This piece is like a bookmark in history. It reflects the horrors and failures of the war in Iraq and suggests that we are invading this land for oil. The centerpiece depicts an Iraqi woman being squeezed by a saber-rattling red, white and blue snake, blood and oil shooting from her head. An American eagle is formed in the spray as a falsely peaceful and religious symbol. The base is formed by a mound of sculls and oil company logos. A demonic American shield, meant to protect its people, is chewing up its own citizens in the name of profit. The pyramid with many tentacles at the top center illustrates greed, power and wealth, and its far-reaching hold on the Earth and its resources. To the right of the eagle is my depiction of the “Fear Alert,” escalating from low to re-elected. The scene to the right of this is meant to show the current administration’s habit of taking from the poor and giving to the rich, while the corporate news media pays lip-service to Bush, literally. The Saudi Arabian Prince is shown with his arms around Cheney and Bush, showing America’s relationship with the Saudi oil family. Kerry is shown as a lifeless, two-faced corpse emerging from the earth with a gravestone behind him labeled “Republicrats.” Nader is silenced as a third party candidate. If you look closely, you’ll see that Nader had the scissors to cut the corporate ties. The IMF and World Bank are shown as a blood sucker emerging from a mausoleum. The upper right shows a Chinese Dragon eating an American flag that was “made in China.” There is a spider colored as the Chinese flag that is eating an American worker through the help of NAFTA and the WTO. To the left of the shield a TV with a Coke in its hand, designer jeans, and a pair of Nikes shoots two fat kids with bad tattoos in the heads while they play video games, demonstrating the laziness of America’s youth. The bottom left depicts the drug war. The masses are sucked into a giant pig-faced prison with a jeweled crown and money burning all around. There’s no incentive to end the drug war because law enforcement and the Mafia are profiting from it. The Grim Reaper is shown shoveling crack into the city of Lawrence, MA, though it could be any city in America because this drug is turning our whole country into a ghetto. As the drug defeats people, their souls are vacuumed up by a ravenous snake. A fist rises up in the far left corner and breaks free from its chains. A goddess chops the head from one of the snakes, symbolizing an individual’s ability to rise above and be independent by cutting off negative influences. Ché Arrajj
